The short definition
Bespoke software (also called custom software) is designed around how a specific business actually works. Instead of changing your process to fit a product, the product is built to fit the process — the data you hold, the steps your team follows, the rules that make your operation different from a competitor's.
- Off-the-shelf software: you rent a shared product and adapt to it.
- Configured platform: a shared product bent towards your needs with plugins and settings.
- Bespoke software: a product designed and built for your requirements, which you own.
